James brings 20 years of experience in a wide range of business and construction ventures to Compass, making him an ideal fit to run our Small Projects Division. His versatility includes the expertise and flexibility necessary for completion of shorter-term projects within a timetable convenient to the client. James has a very hands on style of leadership which means he can personally ensure that every client request is being met. He started his career managing the IT systems for a multi-branch truck dealership based in Indianapolis. He has also been a co-owner in an office condominium development company. For 8 years, James was Director of Quality and Engineering where he managed numerous project improvement and development initiatives for a large national Logistics and Fulfillment Company, overseeing the facilities maintenance and quality departments. Starting in 2008, James owned and operated a home improvement company serving Central Indiana and then went on to purchase and run three Mr. Handyman franchises.
James received his degree in Architectural Drafting and Business Management, has a Six Sigma Black Belt certification and has numerous other certificates in project management, quality, and process improvement. James has lived in Indiana his entire life and he and his wife, Sara, have one daughter, Ava. Spending time with his family, especially outdoors, is his favorite pastime. James is also an avid hunter and water skier.
