And the Award Goes To…

It is with the most humble appreciation that we share that we were recently awarded two great distinctions from the Indiana Subcontractors Association (ISA): General Contractor (GC) of the Year and the Subcontractor Choice Award.

ISA is a membership organization with a strong focus on building relationships, positivity, and trust within the construction industry. Their mission greatly aligns with the Compass culture of collaboration, accountability, results, enthusiasm, and stewardship (CARES). Each year, the ISA hosts over 1,100 construction professionals at an awards event recognizing excellence and integrity in Hoosier general contractors and construction managers.

We are beyond grateful for both recognitions. GC of the Year is a coveted award for general contractors, and to be recognized for this level of professionalism in the 100+ million revenue category is extremely humbling.

If you’re unfamiliar with the process, ISA determines the GC of the Year winner by gathering direct feedback from subcontractors and owners who’ve recently worked on three projects. Everything from contract terms, ethics and field staff expertise to payment integrity, scheduling protocols, and project management are all considered. To just be nominated from a pool of candidates is a great achievement. But to be selected as the award recipient is truly a milestone for Compass and validation of the relationships we’ve built with our industry partners.

As amazing as it is to win GC of the Year, the second recognition we received—the Subcontractor Choice Award—really touched our hearts. This award came from the written feedback provided by subcontractors we are privileged to call partners and friends.

We may not say it enough, but these relationships mean the world to us.

As an industrial contractor that specializes in light manufacturing, cold storage, and warehouse construction, Compass has seen its fair share of challenges–as we all have–in recent years. Skyrocketing material prices, supply chain issues, and labor shortages have created some serious hurdles. But it’s our collaborative approach with our partners that makes all the difference, especially during the hard times. So to be honored by our trade partners, the men and women who are in the trenches with us day in and day out, is a testament to our field and project management staff, CARES culture, and the way we approach our subcontractor relationships.

We can’t say enough about our incredible partners. And here’s just a taste of what they had to say about working with us:

“I consider Compass to be a top tier industry partner, always prioritizing the interests of their clients with a unique balance of leadership and subcontractor support. Their team is always professional, communicates well, and always approaches issues from a collaborative perspective.”
Scott Boma – County Prestress

“Compass does an outstanding job with project leadership and coordination. The “TEAM” atmosphere and their common sense approach of communicating with subcontractors and working out solutions is where Compass excels. Their experience, honesty, integrity, transparency, and quality workmanship set them apart and make them an excellent choice for your building needs.”
Jason Gasaway – E&B Paving

“A project with Compass is a partnership, in every sense of the word. Their collaborative approach is consistent from project to project. Whether you are a sub, supplier, or service provider, you are part of the Team and your experience and opinions are valued. The culture of Compass is one of safety, professionalism, and of giving back to the industry and communities they live and work in.”
Kris Griffith – Ferrer Mechanical Services

At the end of the day, the Compass team doesn’t measure success by dollars or spotlights. Success is about people. It’s about building rock solid relationships through loyalty, integrity and trust. Receiving these two awards speaks volumes to our commitment to our culture and respecting everyone we work with. Moving forward, they’ll serve as reminders to keep providing excellence in construction for many years to come.
